We spent the weekend camping at Bear Lake which is located in the most southeastern corner of the state. It's gorgeous down there, if you haven't been we highly recommend it. In the wee hours of the morning, a bull moose and his mate meandered through our campsite. Unfortunately, Evan was sleeping-in and missed it.
We went down to the lake in the evening when the blazing sun was no longer a threat to our fair skin! The water was warm, shallow and surrounded by a sandy beach.
Evan loves kickin' around in the water!
Evan is watching some kids that just appeared on the scene. He seems really intrigued by them. Especially the three-foot tall, bossy, redheaded one that is carrying a stick and demanding to know why we are there and if our dogs are going to hurt him.
The dogs looooovvvveee camping!!
Minnetonka Cave was just four miles up the mountain from our campsite. The cave has 9 rooms and it's a half mile walk to the end of it. Very dark, cold and slimy in there, but they do have lights and handrails!!
Stalagmite meets Stalactite.
Evan tries to drink from the water fountain and then decides it is much more fun to play in it with his fingers!!
Evan investigates plant matter. We all had a great time! Well...I could have done without the second day at the lake where I got over 20 mosquito bites!! Lucky for everyone else, I acted as their mosquito repellent!!!

Hi Evan,
Wow! What a cool first camping trip: Big elk, slimy caves & bossy kids! We'll give you a couple years & you will outboss any redheaded kids (and carry a bigger stick, too.)
Love gramma g
